I hate to do bad reviews, but....My son got a huge papercut his first time using this ruler. The metal strip that runs along the side, probably not a good idea for a school supply. He was drawing a straight line and once he got to the end he noticed he had been cut.

Ah, so nostalgic! What is more comforting than a wooden ruler? The ruler elegant simplicity at its best. Comforting poplar, sanded smooth and lovingly etched every 1/16th of an inch. The addition of black paint to enhance the graduations is a stroke of minimalist genius. And what can I say about the steel edge? It is perfect for the job. It is securely attached to the wooden base and gives the user the confidence to us the ruler for accurately drawn straight lines less than or equal to 12 inches. I could not think of using another ruler for my straight line less than or equal to 12 inches needs.
