These pencils are good because the lead doesn't break when you sharpen them(I have some that do this and it is very irritating). I need to fill in several forms for my job and these make my job easier by filling in the forms clearly and darkly with no smudges! Thanks! On my down time, I do crossword puzzles and these erase very cleanly as well.

I am an elementary school teacher. My students use nothing but pencil in class for school work, tests, drawing, etc. I sharpen dozens of pencils a week. I have found, consistently over the last 2 years, that Staples pencils do not sharpen well. The wood sharpens fine, but the lead inside seems to already be broken. I will get the pencil sharpened to a nice point and the lead will just slide right out of the wood. I don't know if the lead is already broken inside the pencil, if the lead is too narrow and cracks because it has room to move, or what. I just know I throw more away than I use. After I sharpen it three times in a row (literally, within seconds) and the lead continues to slide out, I toss it.

These pencils are cheap, but you get what you pay for. They constantly break, especially after sharpening. It takes a couple tries in the sharpener as they break in there as well. The eraser is practically gone after one use. Its just junk.
