This is a VERY GOOD reliable product!

Use the pencils for note taking,working the budget,general home use AND the school required 24 SHARPENED #2 pencils for each student to start school! (That's a lot of sharpening.) Amazingly, I was able to sharpen the pencils quickly and easily without overheating my electric sharpener - plus the leads never broke. I got a neat sharp point every time, first try. Smooth writing, too.

Not the sharpest pencil in the drawer

The wood seems somewhat inferior and inconsistent in quality making sharpening difficult. For example, one side of the wood veneer may be soft and the other side may be a darker, denser wood. The result is that during the sharpening process, the lead may break off. You may have to take off a full inch just to get a good point.

I purchased these pencils to donate to a charity in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that helps to educate underprivileged children whose families live and work at the city dump. The families support themselves by picking through the garbage to salvage recyclables such as plastics, metals, and aluminum. The can earn about $10-13 a day by doing this. They live in huts made out of pallets and other things from the dump. The group that is helping them is F.A.D, Families at the Dump. They are educating the children and making sure that the children are fed and cared for while their parents work at the dump. Soon there will be a new building to house the day care, pre-school, school and 70 of the families.
They have made great progress. Should anyone want to donate their website is http://www.familiesatthedump.org. Each year we take school supplies and Beanie Babies to them.

We travelled out of state to visit some elderly relatives. One of them had a request for pencils and notebooks. What did we do? We looked up on line where there was a Staples store to but her the supplies she requested. Sure enough, we were about 10 minutes away from a Staples store. How wonderful! The prices were so reasonable and the store was easy to navigate since it was so similar to the one back home. Plus as usual the helpful employees for their knowledge and assistance.
