This is a VERY GOOD reliable product!

Use the pencils for note taking,working the budget,general home use AND the school required 24 SHARPENED #2 pencils for each student to start school! (That's a lot of sharpening.) Amazingly, I was able to sharpen the pencils quickly and easily without overheating my electric sharpener - plus the leads never broke. I got a neat sharp point every time, first try. Smooth writing, too.

Not the sharpest pencil in the drawer

The wood seems somewhat inferior and inconsistent in quality making sharpening difficult. For example, one side of the wood veneer may be soft and the other side may be a darker, denser wood. The result is that during the sharpening process, the lead may break off. You may have to take off a full inch just to get a good point.

Comments about Staples® #2 Yellow Pencils, Dozen:

They're pencils, so they will get dull and these are for use for my son in school. Only problem is that they are difficult to sharpen at first without completely sharpening the pencil almost down to the eraser. And then they are times where the erasers smudge when first used, although the Staples brand erasers that you buy separately erase great. Overall, once its sharpened, it works.

They must of dropped these pencils a lot, you need to sharpen them at least five times before the lead stays together.
I will buy another brand next time!
