For those of you who are thinking of buying a new shredder for home (or office) use, pay attention for this important consumer announcement.

DO NOT LEAVE THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL, ORIGINAL SALES RECEIPT AND 1 YEAR WARRANTY EXTENSION CONTRACT IN THE PAPER INSERTION SLOT !!!

After a month of comparing machines and prices, I settled on a new Staples 24 sheet cross cut shredder to replace my Office Depot, 18 sheet shredder that consistently gagged on anything more than 5 sheets and never liked working longer than 10 minutes without a half hour break. For the new shredder, I purchased an additional 1 year warranty to add to what I thought was a 1 year original manufacturer's warranty. When I read the warranty in the manual, I found out that it is actually for 3 years....yahoo. I carefully took the sales receipt, the manual, the extended warranty with all the dates and info and placed them in a zip-lock bag for safe keeping. I then decided to keep said paperwork with the machine so I wouldn't have to look for it in 3 or 4 years. I figured I would tape the bag with the papers to the shredder. Until I could actually get that task done, I decided the safe place to leave the bag with the documents, in the paper (to be shred) insertion slot of said machine. After all, it wasn't plugged in, what could possibly go wrong? This morning, I wheeled that baby out of it's storage place and plugged it in so that I could start shredding more old paper. As soon as I plugged it in, it began to run. Instantly it was sucking in all the important documents I so carefully placed in the zip lock bag, bag and all. AGGGGHHHHHH. V-v-v-v-v-t-t-t-t-t was all it said as it waved bye-bye.

Fortunately, when I called Staples customer service, they emailed me a copy of the receipts and the manual which I now have securely taped to the shredder. The shredder is fantastic by the way, it does just what they claimed and is eager for the next batch.

This shredder is very easy to use. I am not technically savvy but found it quick and easy. The bin capacity is the main negative for me. I had a Staples shredder before so was looking forward to a good product and was not disappointed.

The main plus is the capacity to shred 24 sheets at once and have it done quickly. The machine is not a messy one and the area around it can be kept clean without a lot of work after a person is through. Overall I would recommend this shredder for anyone who has personal and some household business to take care of.

This product replaced a smaller trash can shredder that could only handle four sheets max. at a time. The speed and quiet operation plus the number of sheets this unit can handle is truly appreciated. No more stacks of paper piling up waiting to be shred. Thanks Staples!

I have to say, I was pretty hesitant with purchasing this shredder at first, because of the pretty penny that it was. But, in the end, it was totally worth it! Fast, reliable, convenient sleep mode and easy disposal. I have to admit I got a little carried away when I was testing it out. I tried out old scratched CDs, stacks of paper, folders.. almost anything you can think of, this shredder happily shreds it away for you. Old pictures of your ex? Shredded! And don't worry.. if you decide at the last minute you actually did like the picture of you with your ex, you can always rewind your picture back. Losing what was already shredded of course. I'm very pleased with the product. I promise you will be too :)
