Q: Does this product protect against brownouts? Asked on 11/2/2010 by Anonymous Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: In the event of a power surge, any surge protector is meant to protect the electronics in your computer. A surge protector passes the electrical current along from the outlet to a number of electrical and electronic devices plugged into the power strip. If the voltage from the outlet surges or spikes -- rises above the accepted level -- the surge protector diverts the extra electricity into the outlet's grounding wire. Q: Ok, so it has two USB charging ports. What is the voltage and milliampere output for those two ports? I don't find the pertinent specs anywhere. My Droid USB transformer has an output of 5.1V at 850mA. My Kindle USB transformer has an output of 4.9v at 850mA. Do I dare plug either of their USB charging cables into the Staples USB charging ports? Asked on 3/4/2010 by Bruce from Monroe, MI Know the answer? Answer this question 3 answers A: Here are the power specifications on the surge protector Continuous Duty Electrical Rating: 15A/125V/1875W • Maximum Energy Dissipation and H-N / H-G / N-G values: 918J / 36,000A • Maximum Spike Current and H-N / H-G value / N-G values: 6,000V / 36,000A(H-N 12,000A) (H-G 12,000A) (N-G 12,000A) • UL Clamping Voltage (3 line): UL 1449 / 800V(L-N) • Response Time: Less than 1 nanosecond • EMI/RFI Noise Filtration: 150K Hz - 100M Hz, Up to 40db Answered on 3/26/2010 by Customer Care from Staples A: FWIW, I have the Sprint EVO & Sony Reader. I have plugged both into this device for charging purposes. And they charge. But to address your Q: I don't know the specs. Answered on 9/28/2010 by Max S from Portland, OR A: I've used it for my HTC Hero smart phone with no ill effects. I would think that all USB chargers are standardized around 5 volts. Both of your devices are designed to be plugged into and, I am guessing, charged by the USB output on your computer, which probably also varies some between models. I have no concern using it for that purpose for any of my devices designed to be charged through a USB connection. Staples technical support might have a final answer but personally I am not worried about it. Answered on 10/12/2010 by Bill from Boone, NC

Answered on 10/7/2009 by Sam the Lady from Mesa, AZ A: If you look close, you will see that the word "protected" is under that green light. If the green light is lit, that means your connected equipment is protected which is good. :) Answered on 12/8/2009 by psugrad from Ginter, PA A: Hmm. I never saw a green light on mine either.
