Incredible Bang for the Buck

I am on my second one of these machines over the past couple of years. Got the first one replaced without hassle using the replacement plan. Current machine has stopped working on AUTO and I don't think it would really take 25 sheets at a time but it grinds through a LOT of documents without jamming. My current version of this machine is the 25-sheet model. I use it to shred in-house documents and documents on behalf of my clients (We do freelance personal assistant work). It is relatively quiet and fast. Added bonus is that the cats LOVE to sit in the bag of emptied shred :).

Cheap construction

The shredder unit looks like a workhorse, but the plastic chassis that supports the shredder unit is so thin and flimsy that it buckles under it's own weight. This causes the bin to not fully seat and close the safety switch. The end result is that you have to use a hand or knee to push the bin in so that the safety switch closes and the unit will then operate. Why Staples skimped on a little more plastic to make the base strong enough bewilders me. I returned it.

Certainly saves us a lot of time since we don't have to remove staples. We had a lot of old paperwork that needed to be shredded--this item is a great investment and worth every penny.

This shredder started out so strong...it blew right through everything for about 5 months. Then we noticed we had to turn it on and off manually. Now, less then 12 months after purchase, it refuses to turn on and stay on. It shreds one or two papers then has to be turned off and restarted.
Can't recommend it.

Our company has gone through 4 units in the past 3-4 months. The first failed within 30 days. They needed to send 2 more units to find one where the bin would fit correctly and engage the interlock switch. Now the fourth unit failed due to the bin interlock switch breaking loose in the lid. While the unit may be fine for home/light duty use, I would not recommend it for business/everyday use.

I only had this product for a short while. However, it does seem to work well. I had shredded several sheets at one time and it has NOT overheated. This is an advantage over my last shredder which overheated very quickly. It is slightly bigger than I realized. So, if you only have a small space this would not be the shredder for you. Other than that, I think it is a fine piece of equipment and should serve you well.

I use this product to shred junk mail (credit card applications) and other documents. It does not have the sheet capacity that it advertises. It is also a strip shredder which is not that safe. In addition, mine broke just a year after purchasing it. The machine was not used heavily. The door also had problems staying closed and the automatic button would stop working occasionally.

When we first received the shredder I noticed the bin was a bit small. Within the first two weeks there was a paper jam and the shredder fell apart. We needed a replacement. Now with the replacement I've noticed that we can't do heavy shredding because it overheats too quickly.
