The USB port on top is very convenient, but the other 3 ports are not. I have to pick up the hub to plug in devices. That's okay as long as it's something that's going to stay plugged in, but having all ports on top would be more convenient. It does work well so far.

The hub itself and its USB ports seem to work fine.
The transformer is designed in a way that maximizes its footprint on a typical power strip. On my Belkin power strip, it takes up 3 outlets: (1) the one that it uses; (2) the one to its north (the transformer has a huge overhang); and (3) half of the one to its south (because of a large overhang on the other end). Same problem on my APC power/USP. The transformer should have been designed to be at right angles to the plug/prongs.

This piece of equipment was bought for my grandson who needed extra USB ports to play games while using headphones and I don't even know what all. The employee at Staples talked me into this piece of equipment over one with only USB provided electrical power. I am glad we did because it is much faster than the one I have for myself. All worked out well and my grandson is happy. Thanks to employees who care.

A year ago, I could never have imagined a need to hook so many devices to a computer via a USB port. Recently I found myself at a point of running out of room, and a USB port was the ideal solution. The Staples 4-Port Square USB 2.0 Hub by Staples has worked flawlessly so far, and all of my devices are now running off of just one port on my laptop. I liked the feature of the port on top; I plugged my headset there, and can basically hide everything out of sight. If there's a design flaw, it's that the ports on back are very close to one another. A large, fat USB would block an adjacent port.

I Bought this 4-port hub from staples on 125th street for $10.I want to purchase another one at the same location but there all out. when I go to purchase it on line it is $29.99 I would like to know can I get the hub for the store price.

  I'm pretty sure you can't use this hub directly to share an internet connection. A router (or a modem with router function) is needed for sharing. If you have a router/modem which has a USB port, the hub might be usable to extend that port, but that depends on whether the router's management of its USB port allows multiple connections.
  
  If your computers have ethernet connectors and your router/modem does as well, then that's a good solution; you'd need ethernet cables. Another good solution would be if your computers have WiFi and the router/modem does as well - that wouldn't be a wired system, of course.

Q:
I just purchased a new printer with a USB cable, my old printer was the old type of connection. I am also using a wireless network connection. My computer is telling me that the wireless network connection is using 450 of the 500 bandwidth. Is this why I cannot have both running at the same time on the usb ports? If I purchase a USB Hub and connect it to my computer, will this solve my problem?
