The USB connection to your device does NOT swivel 360 degrees and they say that in the advertising. So if you have ports on the left side of your machine, keep in mind that some of the hub's ports may be unreachable. I would have thought it would be designed so it can pull out and be attached from the left easily too. Really diminishes usefulness.

My computer has four USB ports, all of which are used in running my standard peripherals. I purchased this item to provide an extra USB port for using my jump drive with my desk computer without having to unplug my printer. Unfortunately, when the mobile hub is installed it uses one port but covers up another, no matter which one I install it. That necessitates having to unplug a peripheral and plug it into the mobile hub along with the jump drive. However, when using more than one port on the mobile hub, the connection to the computer wobbles and fails to make good contact.

I needed an USB Expansion Port for my Laptops. This cute little device gives me FOUR (4) BUT! It eats ONE (1), so, I gain four, but limited to power supplied by my laptop! It has a Port for 5 volts, at 2.4 Amps, so now, I need to find an extra battery connector to supply this. Overall, at home, where power is not a problem, I use this every day. But on the Road, or at School, or in a Meeting, things can get a bit bogged down by lack of battery power. So, my other option is to get a bigger battery for my laptop, if I can find one.

This needs yet another cord/plug...extra cost. When you want a simple solution, this isn't it and was completely worthless. Sales people should know what they are selling and troubleshoot the problems BEFORE not after. Now I am aggravated, have to go back and return the product because I'm not spending more $$$ to make it work It's a real pain. Makes me question Staples. I would love to find a full service computer store with well trained, qualified people. Maybe if all these companies hired, fully trained and PAID their people there wouldn't be such problems!

Purchased for a friend with laptop that hasn't grasped why I dont use hers when I'm there. Because she has a wireless mouse and no extra ports! Proof was required. Works great.

RE: Staples 4-Port USB 2.0 Mobile Hub
This device works fine on my laptop (powered through a USB pass-through connection from a another device -> Antec dual-fan cooling base), but will not work on my desktop PC. The motherboard on my desktop PC 'should' supply power (500ma) to the 2 USB on-board ports (my USB printer works fine through either one of the USB ports) - and then to the 4-port hub - but DOES NOT. There is an input receptacle - somewhat resembling a power supply connector - on the the 4-port mobile hub. Is there a power supply adapter available and/or necessary to power this USB device? The motherboard BIOS allows you to enable USB devices/ports (including USB keyboard support), but so far nothing...possibly a hard switch setting on the motherboard?
1.) The motherboard & PCU are Intel.
2.) My OS is Windows XP.
Thanks for any advice/suggestions/ideas/work-arounds you might have. Otherwise, I'll have to return the product.

I cannot get this enabled on my computer. The computer sees it. A search was done but there are no s/w updates available to install it. I have a power cord plugged into it to provide additional power. What is wrong?

Q:
There is a power outlet for this device (the 19040 USB hub) but it did not come with a power plug? Can this plug be bought separately? I am not getting enough power for all of the devices I need to run off of this hub. thanks
