After destroying 2 plastic chair mats, I decided to splurge and go up-scale. I am very pleased with it after 3+ months of daily use. The set-up is a snap. There's a slight clicked-y-click as you roll your chair over it; it's more fun (not annoying) - and it comes from the seams in bamboo and NOT the cracks in the old plastic kind. I feel better that bamboo is a renewable resource, and I haven't bought more plastic that will be in a landfill in 6 months. I bought the lowest-end produce in this category, and I have found it to be quite suitable. I am a difficult person to buy gifts for. But this is the kind of thing that someone might not have - and, after the initial puzzled look - would appreciate this as a gift.

I've had it one week so far and I really like it. The chair rolls easily on it and it also looks much nicer than the standard plastic mats. Another benefit is that in my computer room/office I tend to drop staples quite often and they are hard to see on the clear mats. On this mat I am able to find them quickly, as well as anything else that drops. It is also great at covering up any stains on the carpeting, of which I have several very noticeable ones from drinks having been spilled. So now I just need to wait for 6-8 months to be sure it doesn't crack. If that part holds up, then this will be the only one I purchase in the future.

We gave this product 4 stars because the bamboo after a while comes apart from the matting it was glued to and splits. Other than that it is a good product.

Q:
Is the bottom of this mat flat or does it provide a grip? We want to place it on hardwood floor and don't want it to slip underneath the chair. Thanks!
The description on the original page says that it is designed for hard wood floors (as well as commercial carpet). It also rolls up. It has enough grip to not slide around.
