I am a photographer and use this product to archive Bah Mitzvah albums.
It's a good value, I've never seen DVD's cheaper, and a reliable product.
I am a bit confused with the price jump from the 50 to the 100 pack. I usually buy 2 - 50 packs because there is a significant savings over purchasing the 100 pack. This bothers me because I am concerned about environment, and would rather buy the 100 pack at the same price and have less garbage at the end.

I've only used one other name brand discs and these are very compatible. I'm not sure about how they stack up for speed (or lack of). I think the burning speed depends on how much there is to burn. My uses vary so I guess it burns okay. I'd recommend them to anyone.

      Comments about Staples® 50/Pack 4.7GB DVD+R, Spindle:

I have been buying Staples Brand DVD's and CD's for a few years now due to an excellent price point but if they were unreliable, I would not repurchase any item. These do not disappoint and anyone reading this review would be well served to make the purchase. I have used them with three different DVD burners and I rarely make a "coaster". They play on a wide variety of home DVD players so, again, they make the grade. All-in-all, I have been very happy with both Staples and their products and give my Highest recommendation.

        Comments about Staples® 50/Pack 4.7GB DVD+R, Spindle:

Based on what I paid for this product, it has worked the way I expected it to. I am satisfied with its performance. The regret that I have was not purchasing a package of cases to hold each disc individually. So after burning a disc I have to be very careful not to get it scratched up. There is true value in the purchase of this product. I haven't seen the question - Would I recommend it to someone else? But I can answer it in the affirmative - YES. I will and have recommended it to my brother and his son for their storage usage and they seem satisfied.

                A:

These particular DVD+R would be beneficial to your needs, since they do have 4.7GB of available space, since the average picture size is 675 KB you would be able to store approximately 6,962 pictures on one disk.

The media will take any file type and will store up to 4.7 gb of information, minus some overhead for file structure. Please note that this is a DVD+r and will not work in a CD-RW drive so check your computer and make sure it is compatible before purchasing.

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

Yes, you can use this item to create a data disc with your files. However, sometimes formats only work with certain programs. For example; .SHP files are a 3d Shaping file created with Autodesk and they most likely can only be opened with Autodesk. If you do burn items with several different formats, be sure that they are readable and can still open, with a different computer. Another thing, you should be able to export and/or save the file as a more common extension.

Please, consult your DVD players manual for specific disc formats. However, most DVD players/recorders post 2006 can handle both formats.

I would suggest that if you have time to spare, that you first try it on a RW to see if errors stop it and if it works. If it works with that disk you should be able to trust burning on a +R or -R disk without problems causing you to immediately lose another new disk. The RW can then be used again for something else or to do the same. I don't know it's limit, but it is at least more than 1 write. FYI Note: I have found NRTN RCYCL BIN able to resurrect Cyclic Redundancy Error deleted files that will run just fine. I have yet to fully check that one out, for whatever it is for you. Good Luck! TLC.

The -R disks work in -R drives +R disks work in +R drives, most drives do both now so there is no difference. However it is mass hype that +R uses a higher grade media.
