Don't be mislead by the packaging that says for resolutions up to 480x640. The cable that is for "600x800 and higher resolution" is $30 and is unnecessary. You can use this cable to connect your laptop or desktop to much higher resolution monitors with no issue. No need to spend $30.

I don;t know if it was the product or my boyfriend's monitor and my laptop as connection points, but it showed my computer's screen on his monitor for a minute and then only gave me a no connection found blue box on his monitor, and then I couldn't get it to work. Luckily, I made my laptop work by slapping the screen and moving it around a little bit, but then, my laptop is three years old...

        This product is awesome and works well with my computer. This product can be use for many everyday uses. Such usage includes presentations, photo viewing, watching movies, and more. I personally bought this product because I wanted to watch some movies with my family and I didn't want to do it on my laptop because the screen is small and the images cannot be seen that well when looked at an angle, but with this product it allowed me to connect my laptop to my TV and be able to watch movies. It was an awesome idea to buy this product.

        I am disabled, and use an electric whee(L) chair and a lift chair (recliner). In transferring from one chair to the other my laptop got caught under the lift chair mechanism. The LCD screen was crushed. Using this cable I was able to hook the laptop to a 24" desktop monitor close enough to the chair that I can fully use again. Without the cable, I would have had to buy either a new laptop or spend an equivalent amount repairing the LCD screen.

              As long as both your computer, and your monitor have 15 pin VGA connectors on them, then this cable will work with Windows Vista Home Premium. A VGA monitor connection works independently of the type of operating system installed.
