At this time I am taking two collage class at the same time and I also own and run a lunch truck business by myself. I run two pc's and a laptop at the same time for at least 12 hours aday doing my assignments and keeping track of my business transactions. I always need more USB ports for all of the printers, wireless keypads/mouses, cams and mics that I use at the same time daily. I love the powered 7 port and have plans on getting two more this Friday. I wish that I could find a 10 or 12 port one though.

Excellent while it worked

This product looked excellent when I decided to purchase it since it was available in-store at my local Staples. Unfortunately the top access USB ports all failed approximately 2 months after purchase. This is the second Staples USB device that has failed for me while replacement Belkin & IOGear products performed as expected. I prefer to shop @ Staples, but will now avoid Staples computer I/O connection products.

With this many ports and since it is powered, it could be a dream device to put somewhere not in proximity to a computer to hook up all peripherals. COULD BE. (1) The (mini to regular plug)USB cable that connects the hub to the computer is less than 6 feet so it limits flexibility. (2) Even though the hub is powered, it fails to recognize/communicate with a Western Digital Passport external hard drive. This makes the hub useless for attaching a back up hard dive. I am going to look into a powered external hard drive to connect...but this of course means MORE WIRES AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.

I thought this would be wonderful for me, since I use my laptop as my main computer at home. A laptop doesn't have enough USB ports for all the external devices I use with it, monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, printer, label printer, chill pad, etc...and it worked great for a few months, but now only 1 or 2 of them work and the rest are dead...out of 7 ports. Sad. I'm going to try a different brand.

I got this home, connected it and plugged in all my peripherals only to find it didn't work. I tried all three USB connections on my computer and tested them with other equipment. I will never buy Staples brand ever again. I did once already and that didn't work either. I gave them another chance, but not ever again... EVER!
