        This replaces an architect's lamp that is at least 20 years old. The switch on the old one broke and it was time for a new bedside lamp. I hope to turn it into a touch lamp.

        The Staples description says that you can use either a 60w incandescent bulb or a 13w CFL bulb. Having used it for several hours with a 60w bulb, it emitted a terrible smell that gave me a headache. The smell (and the headache) disappeared when I used the included CFL bulb. Now the only headache will come when I have to call the hazmat team when the bulb burns out. Does a decent job of lighting and I'm happy enough with it, but I feel that I was misled into buying it.

        Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
