I have had the chair for few weeks now and it is all I could hope for in one that budget priced. I had a chair previously which had little padding. I will not do that mistake again. This chair has sufficient padding to hold my stocky frame as well as good back support. I am more than happy with it. And will recommend it highly.

Pros: Pretty comfortable chair. [...] Took me about 15 minutes to completely assemble it. Instructions were easy to follow. Rolls very easily on my laminate floor.Cons: After it was assembled, I noticed the back was slightly tilted to one side so that there was more of a gap at the base on one side. There doesn't appear to be a way to adjust this. Also the fabric isn't that strong. The back of the chair has rubbed against the edge of my desk when I turn to get up and it's already showing signs of wear after less than a week. I like the comfort, but because of the flaw and wear, I wouldn't recommend this chair to a friend. It's a decent budget chair, I just wish the fabric held up better. I guess you get what you pay for.
Comments about Staples® Berwell Luxura Task Chair, Black:
This chair not only looks great but it is very comfortable. It is a small profile chair and is not bulky what so ever. I did not realize how bad the padding on my old chair was or how very little padding was left until I sat in this chair. I was having issues with my "rear end" if you catch my drift which are all better now that I changed my chair out. Sitting in a chair for 6-8 hrs a day can cause issues if you don't sit on a proper chair... and I am an active person outside of work! I highly recommend this chair also because of the great value.
Comments about Staples® Berwell Luxura Task Chair, Black:
Average quality at best. Padding is insufficient for any length of time. Lumbar support is inadequate. Can never really sit upright while also having back support because the seat back always leans back at a bit of an angle even in locked position. Gets hot and uncomfortable as fabric does not breathe.
This handle that raises and lowers your chair can be pulled out or pushed in. This will create a tilt lock on your chair if the handle is pushed in. Pull on the handle to remove it from the locked position, and you should be able to tilt back in your chair. If you are still unable to tilt in your chair, please contact our Staples Brand Product team by dialing 1-800-425-0049. A representative would be happy to further assist you.

You need to pull out the lever to unlock it, and then adjust to your preference. Once you are in the desired position, put the lever back into the lock position. If this does not work you may have a defective unit.
Someone in the Q and A section of the product page seems to have had a similar problem.

Q:
I cannot get the adjustable tilt tension to turn. I pulled the lever out to unlock it and still have had no luck. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the tilt to work, or could this be a defective chair?

Q:
In the description it says "Center tilt with adjustable tilt tension and lock" Does this mean that the chair will tilt backwards or sort of rock like some office chairs do?
Center tilt with adjustable tilt tension and lock means the chair can be tilted back and locked in that position.

I just purchased the chair, but once I put it together..the height adjustment was not working. I love this chair but I need the height adjustment.Has anyone else had this issue? Is there any way to fix it?
According to my parts department, the stem size is 11mm in diameter and 22mm in length. I hope that this helps. If you have any more question please feel free to contact us at 1-800-333-3330.

Q:
I just bought this chair. It is comfortable except for the back slant. Is there a way to raise the back to fit my back? It advertises lumbar support but my back does not even touch the chair back. I am a small person, only 5' tall and 125 lbs. I can't seem to adjust it.

For a similar armless Task Chair, please see item number 853702.

This brand does not have an armless chair, but HON and Office Star both make armless chairs that may be comfortable for you.

We have 2 of these chairs and have always had the arms off. The arms have nothing to do with the structural integrity of this chair. Some other chairs might be affected by removing the arms, such as when the arms are actually attached to the back AND seat. On this chair, the arms are only attached to the seat. We love these chairs. Very comfortable, and they go up high enough for our desks (the cheaper task chairs are too short). Hope that helps.
