Because my desk lacks drawers and other methods of organization, I've had to keep everything stacked in piles... like my textbooks for college. This year, however, I decided to buy bookends so I could keep all of my textbooks upright. That way, I could access them easier. I had shopped around on several sites for bookends before finally deciding on these because though they're cheap, they look nice and are a reasonable size - I ended up ordering three sets. I have a single bookend propping up 8 textbooks right now and it does a fantastic job. Even when I remove textbooks and the remaining ones are left leaning against the bookend, it holds steady. The other bookends are dispersed around my apartment, holding up DVDs, etc. and each one is doing a good job.

My only complaint is that one of the sets of bookends came slightly bent. Though with a little bit of elbow grease, I managed to bend it back to how it's supposed to be. :)

      These are great bookends for the price. HIgh quality. I like the fact that the sides are closed-in. Some boookends have open sides & smaller books fall through. This set allows you to use any size book and they work great. Very sturdy. I have paperbacks and hardbacks, some are small and some are large, and they are stay put.               I purchased 4 sets of these bookends for our new office. They look professional and support large hardcover textbooks. The textbooks are arranged so that they are held together by one side of the bookcase, and the other end is held together by one bookend.

              That being said, I do not know how well they would support flimsy paperbacks that tend to lean and/or do not have support of one side of a bookcase.
