Like all packaging tapes, you have to be adept with use of the tape dispenser to achieve success. When handling strips of tape manually to attach to packages, always be aware not to let it twist upon itself anywhere(because you won't be able to 'undo' how it sticks to itself, and the piece you've cut will need to be disposed of). The STAPLES brand of packaging tape seems just as effective to me as higher priced National brands (e.g. 3M). The best deal is to buy the tape in packages of 3 or 6 rolls, especially when STAPLES has a sale on them. Since this tape is clear, you can easily attach your non-adhesive printed labels to letters or packages to clearly see the label information through the tape.

Let me preface by saying I am a shipper on E-bay and have had to pack over four hundred packages for shipping, a necessity of which is the use of tape. This review goes for any form of Staples heavy duty tape you buy. I recently bought a roll of Staples brand heavy duty storage tape. Honestly, it's worth complaining about, this is quite frankly the worst roll of tape I have ever used in my life. Firstly, you charge more for packing tape then non-competitor hardware stores. I know a nationwide chain which sells a roll nearly twice the size for the same price. Secondly, the tape cutter edge is dull and takes more effort then usual to just cut the darn piece of tape. Thirdly, the tape is INCREDIBLY POOR QUALITY AND COMES APART CONSTANTLY! Throughout the entire use of the roll I had problems – you try and grab the tape to use it and only a sliver will rip off, making you waste 3-4 times what you wanted to simply trying to get a complete width of tape off the spindle. I cannot tell you the amount of frustration you have caused me in what should be a simple product for an office supply company to perfect. There is no reason a hardware store's variety is better than Staples, but apparently it is and they offer it cheaper to boot. Listen, it's pretty simple, if you make an inferior product and charge an arm and a leg for it, I have no reason to step into your store anymore. Your products represent the quality of your company, and quite frankly the quality of this tape was "####", so think of how that reflects upon your business. Nothing personal, it's just the truth. I don't have a receipt and I needed the tape otherwise I would have returned it hastily.
Comments about Staples® Heavy-Duty Storage Tape, Clear, 1.89" x 54.7 yds, 6 Rolls:
It is a strong tape, remains clear. We use it mostly for shipping, so we can't testify for it's long time storage capabilities. We seal boxes with it, but it sometimes comes loose, needs more pressure to reseal, it could be because the humidity has been high, but we don't think that's a good excuse. It is good for the price, I hope they read this and improve the tack, then it would be a 5 star item.

I used this tape to prepare pledge envelopes for a school fundraiser. In the past we have had problems with "cheap" tape that was too thin and was hard to handle. Even though this tape was on sale/clearance the quality and thickness was better than expected.
