Got this desk to put laptop at proper height -- works fine with laptop on main desk surface, USB keyboard on the sliding tray, mouse on a separate surface nearby, and a folding metal chair.

I assembled the desk without the lower grate panel, and the desk itself remains sturdy.

The monitor shelf is held up by 2 poles and a grate panel... that assembly leads me to believe it would not be the safest for heavy CRT screens, try LCD/flat panel only - probably not safe to sit/lean/stand on, though it has survived a 10 pound cat.

The side shelf is designed to be an easy and optional accessory that can be used on either side and holds on by 2 points. It can hold things like paper trays or a 10 pound cat, but a printer like HP's DeskJet 990 doesn't fit and might have been too heavy.

The keyboard tray does not lock/click in the fully extended position, so the keyboard may slide away as you type or if tapped.

First let me say that they have redisigned this table, but saying that, I believe many of my observations may still be true. This is about the older version of the table (6 months ago)

I waited before I wrote this review. I wanted to "test drive" the computer table before commenting on it. Keep in mind that this is an inexpensive table, and you get what you pay for. For me, it was a bad choice.
1. When assembling the table, I used a power drill and went right through the table top!!! Duh. So I started out damaging it.
2. The monitor table is too high and not adjustable. After working for a while on the computer, my necks starts to REALLY ache from the awkward position of looking up at the monitor. Ergonomically speaking, the monitor should be directly in front of your eyes so there's no head tilting to see the screen. Tilting the monitor doesn't help.
3. The next problem, for me, is that the printer table is stationery. This means that when I run out of paper (and I'm using a printer that has a vertical feed) I have to crawl around to put more paper in. And, God help me when I get a paper jam! It's VERY awkward, and being disabled, it really gets my pain started.
4. The shelf for the keyboard is narrow. Too narrow for a mouse pad and the keyboard. I had to turn the mouse pad sideways and it barely fits. The keyboard table also doesn't lock in place so it can/will move away from your hands as you're working, not always but on occasion.
Upstairs I have a much better designed table for my OLD computer. I bought it at a "cheapy" store (Building 19)for $20 about 12 years ago. It has a printer table with a side out so it's easy to add paper or clear a paper jam. There is NO shelf for the monitor so I can adjust the height myself and the shelf for the keyboard is plenty wide enough for the keyboard and the mouse pad.
These are just my observations, but I thought that they may be helpful to the next person looking for the right computer table for them.
If you're like me and you're on your computer for hours at a time, take the time, and spend the money, to get the computer table that's right for you. Good hunting!

          this was a great table it was very easy to set up alot of space {room} for items and a perfect size this table fit great in my room i fit everything my supplies {stapeler tape sharpener and post its} also i fit the home phone on it. my computer and printer fit great. and instead of putting the optional xtra shelf outside i figured out how to put it inside overall this is a perfect table i recommend this to everyone

                  Generally no damage will occur while disassembling desks if you use the provided/recommended tools. Using power tools can strip the wood out from around the screw hole.
