[...]I am pleased with the file cabinet. It wasn't hard to put together and it looks great with the desk/hutch to match. I am giving this a 4 star rating because there was a scratch or two on the cabinet and I don't know how well it will stand up in time but, I am thrilled to say that the cabinet came wrapped so that each piece was protected, the instructions were easy to understand and the hardware was packaged separately to coincide with each step. I give Staples a 10+ for that.

I thought this went together very easily and is very attractive. You get what you pay for right. But, I am a bit disappointed with the way they set up the hanging file system. You get a good size bottom drawer for files but it's set up for mostly legal-size hanging files and only about a third of the space accommodates the standard letter-size files. There appears to be a way to configure it for more letter-size, but the pre-cut space for the file hanger is missing in the area that would allow for this. I'll figure it out, but wish I didn't have to.

          I had to call the staples assembly people for over a week every day trying to get them to schedule someone to put this together. I bought this file along with the desk and the boxed items sat in my living room for over 2 weeks waiting for a staples assembly person to put it together.
          It was like a jigsaw puzzle and it took this person 7 and 1 /2 hours to put the desk and file together ( 2 hours for the lateral file) He left 2 nicks on the drawer and a big crack the size of a half dollar on the side of the lateral file.

              The back pieces, especially had very poorly pre-drilled holes and did not fit properly on the piece. Other holes were not well drilled and it was hard to get the screws to go all the way in. The Glue dispenser was very hard to use. The finished product is acceptable, but I would not buy anything like this from Staples again.

              Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
