This was recommended for plush carpet so I bought it to go over my new thick carpet and padding. However the pegs are only one-eighth of an inch and so short that they might as well not be there. Every time I use it, it moves, as much as 6 inches in one day. I find it is not at all useful on a plush carpet and am going to return it to find one with longer pegs.I am very disappointed and feel mislead.

        The high-pile chair mat was for my home. My carpet pile is not that thick, but my previous mat was very thick and sturdy. The mat I bought recently was unexpectedly very soft and pliable. The weight of the chair alone put small divits into the mat. When I sat in the chair, the 5-point chair wheels sank down and almost anchored my chair to the mat. I have taken the mat back as it is not doing the job it is supposed to. I would venture a guess that it was mis-labeled and should be for commercial carpets only.

        I would like to say that this is probably the best chair mat I've ever bought. This is our 4th. Most recently, I was making due with the cheaper model (which incidentally only lasted about 5 months before we had major cracking issues with it - it was thin and flimsy, but that's all they carry in our store, so that's what I bought.) I ordered this one online to replace it, as it's specs say that it's .17 thick, much more heavy duty than the $69- model. I'm so glad I did. I'm not sure why, but mine arrived rolled up. I'm not sure how they did that, but they did, and WHAT A PAIN to unroll. It's VERY rigid. That is why I ordered it, though, no more sinking, yeah! I can tell from previous experience, this one will last us at least 3-4 years.

            This mat has completely failed. Once temperatures drop below 65 degrees in office, it chunks and cracks, eventually leaving gapping holes exposing my carpet. The same thing happened to the original one I purchased. I had to jump through manufacture hoops to get a replacement. Staples does not handle replacement. Current mat is the replacement and it failed too. Bummer.

                    This mat is really intended for use on a carpet that's plush, not for commercial carpet. If you're looking for a heavy-duty mat for commercial carpet, you may want to consider a hard wood or bamboo mat, such as 798022.
