No frills yet a clean style that is classy and minimalist. The ball and chain switch has just the right heft and firmness. The colors and textures are pleasantly neutral. The included cfl bulb detracts somewhat, however, since the element protrudes more than an incand bulb. But the light quality is very good. All in all, a great basic yet stylish lamp.

This is a solidly built, sleek-looking lamp. However, I used to have a halogen desklamp, and the brightness, focus, and warmth of a halogen bulb really exceeds incandescant bulbs. Halogen bulbs are a pain to purchase (which is why I decided to try this one), but I'm afraid I'm exchanging this for another halogen lamp - I find it much easier for reading and deskwork in general.
