I bought this cabinet for security storage of patient's files in my office. I noticed the drawer does not close all the way in sometimes. Not "click-close", if you know what I mean. when drawer is not closed, the lock does not work. that's the reason why I put 3 stars, not 5

Just what you would expect. Be sure you measure the space prior to purchasing. It was just as described but it is big. I put this in my home office and it takes up quite a bit of space. Overall, I would absolutely purchase it again. Solid construction [...]. It was actually easy to place while in the cardboard covering. [...] The drawers glide easily. The keys lock the cabinet just as would be expected. Nothing sexy about it, other than the solid black color. By the way, it shows handprints quite easily. Fully functional, exactly what you would expect. No real negatives to report. If you need a lateral filing cabinet with lots of space, this is the one for you.

Can letter size files be filed laterally? I know this question was asked but it didn't refer to letter size files.

  Letter size file will not hang from left to right, with file rails they will hang front to back in the Staples® HL8000 Commercial 42" Wide 4 Drawer Lateral File Cabinet.

Q:
Can folders be placed side to side (so that when opening a drawer, you see the folders placed in sideways) or do they have to be placed front to back as in smaller, narrow non-lateral file cabinets? I ask because in another question for a similar product this was an issue. Also, does this cabinet need anything else to make it functional (sliders or other parts purchased separately?)
