I bought this for my husband's desk to highlight specific work areas. It's a great size and the lighting is good, however we were disappointed that the 3-way switch doesn't work properly. It switches from the lowest level to the next level, but then when trying to switch to the brightest level, it goes off for a second and then you have to jiggle the switch to get it to come on to the next level which isn't much brighter than the second level. The switch is also not located in a convenient place on the cord. It would have been better to have the switch on the lamp itself, so the cord could be kept hidden and and would make it easier to switch on. I'm glad I got it on sale, otherwise, it probably wouldn't be worth the full price.

I am was not at all satisfied with this lamp. When I opened the box to set up the lamp, the little metal stem fell off, I don't think it has a use or purpose other than for decoration. Once I set up the lamp it just didn't provide much light, I grapple with the glare from the overhead lights in my office on my 17"macbook pro, so I was hoping this would be a nice alternative. The base could also be a little heavier, if you turn the neck too far in a certain direction, the lamp tilts over. I plan to return it as soon as I get a chance.

    Good for very directed light but not if you need a broader pool of light. Also, the glass cover gets very hot and even with the little METAL handle to adjust, it's hard to maneuver it where you need it.

      I purchased the following desk lamp for one of my collegues. I set it up but did not bother to check if the unit worked. I honestly did not think I had to do this. When my collegue returned to the office, she informed me the unit had an intermittent problem as it turned on "once" and then did not work any more. I brought it to my area and I tried plugging it into different plugs. Same thing happened. It worked once and then it turned off. I tried adjusting the contacts where the bulb is inserted and it did not work. After several tries, we just gave up. Unfortunately, I had already thrown the box away and ended up disposing the unit.
