The side bars on the rack turned out to be adjustable-- just use pliers to bend the bars in at the notch that suits the length you need. It wasn't easy, but it was doable. Doing this, we got this 18 inch rack to fit perfectly in my 16 inch drawer. Its working out very nicely, great product :)

I ordered the hanging file frame because there is a frame missing in one of my file drawers. I could not assemble the frame. It claims that the rails are "scored" so they can easily be pulled apart with pliers. This is not true. The metal was sharp and turned into a frustrating and dangerous process. I put the un-assembled mess back in the box, kept the file folders and tabs and threw the frame away.

    I ordered the hanging file frame because there is a frame missing in one of my file drawers. I could not assemble the frame. It claims that the rails are "scored" so they can easily be pulled apart with pliers. This is not true. The metal was sharp and turned into a frustrating and dangerous process.           Cheaply made. I purchased this one hoping it would fit my drawer (I knew deep down it didn't) but I was able to cut it down (score it deeply with clippers and breaking it off) to size. Then I realized that I could easily purchase the competitor's longer file frame (sold here) for less than a quarter of the price since I didn't need the colored files included with this brand. I found the other brand to be much sturdier (it required a small metal file to score the steel bar deep enough in order to size it down to the size I wanted). It's significantly more sturdy and cleaner looking.
