I'm glad lots of people enjoy this chair. Other than my one major complaint, it's one of the most comfortable office chairs I've used given my bad back. But here's the problem: the arms. They are not well-secured to the chair back and base. I noticed they were quickly becoming wobbly, so I tightened them a few times. After the third time, the arm disconnected from the chair.
A bolt passes through the arm and connects to the chair side. Inside each arm is a plastic flange the bolt presses against. After three tightenings, the flange expanded and gave way allowing the bolt head to slip through it. That's what you get when you use plastic in furniture! Rather than take it back, I found that the right size lock washer will act as a metal flange that the plastic can't expand around. Now the arms won't wobble.
I'm not a big guy and I don't abuse my office furniture. You'll probably like the comfort and lumbar support - but unless you're willing to add parts to the chair, it may not last very long.
Comments about Staples Herrick Bonded Leather Executive High-Back Chair, Black:
Bonded leather (synthetic material) smells funny and takes some time to get used to. The seat cushion is hard but I've only been sitting on it a few hours. Hopefully will soften with use and not flatten. Adjustable lumbar support is a nice feature not usually found on cheapo chairs. The lowest setting is still a bit high, if you are short, your feet may have a difficult time touching the floor.
Comments about Staples Herrick Bonded Leather Executive High-Back Chair, Black:
Needed a comfortable chair for my 6'+ son. This one tilts without any suggestion of dumping you back on the floor, and seems sturdy enough to take the abuse from a teenager.
This chair is rated as safe for 8 continual hours supporting a 225 person, similar chairs are available in sizes that support more weight, so it would be better for a a person at 225 pounds to go for a sturdier and safer rated chair. After continual use, this chair, supporting 225 may break down quickly.
