Inexpensive and gets the job done

I was preparing for a presentation at a national conference. While practicing, I realized that, even though my presentation was being projected from my laptop, moving the mouse on my laptop didn't really grab the audience's attention, and took my eyes off of them. So I purchased this pointer after reading some of the other reviews. I had no trouble getting it through airport security in my carry-on, and it allowed me to be more professional in my presentation.

The laser beam occasionally does not turn on or stay on unless shaken or by removing and reinstalling the batteries. The batteries tested as fresh, so this outage appears to be a connection problem. Bought in store one month ago. Used twice for presentation in university classroom and multiple times for practice sessions.

My dog loves to chase the RED DOT! This thing is pretty bright and can even be seen on grass in daylight. It would certainly make a great tool for business or presentations even in a large room but I just like to let the dog chase the dot around. Yes, I am careful to keep it away from his eyes!

I want a one stop shopping experience. I do NOT appreciate having NO BATTERIES included. Frankly, it makes Staples appear CHEAP. I mean, how much do batteries cost (less than a dollar), not what you sell them for? I do not appreciate having to look everywhere for another product. What if you had to use my spouses credit card to purchase my laser pointer and my sons credit card to purchase the batteries? Doesn't make sense does it? Just like not selling batteries with the laser pointer and making us buy another product. So Staples, start selling SMART!

First impressions are excellent. Strong light, professional quality, should last a lot longer that other I've purchased. Clip stops it from rolling off lectern/desk; easy to tell which end to point when busy speaking and moving mouse; feels like it will last. So much better that the Apollo pointers (both plastic and brass models)!
