Inexpensive and gets the job done

I was preparing for a presentation at a national conference. While practicing, I realized that, even though my presentation was being projected from my laptop, moving the mouse on my laptop didn't really grab the audience's attention, and took my eyes off of them. So I purchased this pointer after reading some of the other reviews. I had no trouble getting it through airport security in my carry-on, and it allowed me to be more professional in my presentation.

The laser beam occasionally does not turn on or stay on unless shaken or by removing and reinstalling the batteries. The batteries tested as fresh, so this outage appears to be a connection problem. Bought in store one month ago. Used twice for presentation in university classroom and multiple times for practice sessions.

Great no-frills operation. Very strong - goes a long distance. Running off AAA batteries is a plus. The clip is a little stiff to use.

Seems solidly made and strong.
Good for playing with the cats, but if I ever need another one just for the cats, I will get the one that is $10 cheaper and still uses AAA batteries.
I dislike those little throw away ones, it is more expensive to replace the batteries than get a new one.

puts out a class IIIa (less than 5mW) beam in the 640-660 nM wavelength (red).
