The bottom shelf flips up for use as a corkboard. This option is practical and it saves money since you don't have to buy a separate bulletin board.

I bought this entire collection and love it. I was able to measure and pick out the peices that I wanted. I assembled it all myself in a little over a week. Fantastic quality, Beautiful color/finish, looks better in my room than in these pictures! Directions are easy to follow, I am very very impressed.

Only 2 complaints
(1) The beautiful finish looks like it would scratch easily - no problems yet except the spot where my wife dropped her monitor moving it to the new desk.

(2)Wood glue - every item came with the same small bottle of wood glue. For some it was way too much, for some it wasn't near enough (ie. large desks, Big room divider, computer cabinet). It worked out for me though because I had some left over from the smaller items to use on the larger.

****only 4 star is due to the way this peice connects to the desk, it connects by screwing a metal bracket (in the back) to both the desk and the hutch with 4 small screws, This doesn't seem like the best way they could have done it, but it is sturdy right now.. time will tell how long it will stay that way. - as a stand alone shelf it deserves 5 stars.
