This is a good mid-price chair for for what I paid. I got it on sale for[$]. For the full price of [$] I would be more disappointed with its short-comings. (If they edit the pricing info, the sale price paid was about 26% less than full retail.) I will say, compared to all else I tried in this price range, I am pleased with the features it offers. So, why am I disappointed? If you weigh over 250lbs, it may lack sufficient padding, especially as time passes and the seat compacts. The product description is incorrect. The seat is fabric, not mesh like the back. It is not particularly hot though. It just doesn't breathe like the back. The lumbar support DOES adjust. I only adjusts in and out, not up and down. If the small of your back is in the right place, it works great. Make sure you examine this feature in the store before buying if it is important to you. The chair WILL tilt. You simply have to pull out on the lock mechansim. It WILL NOT, that I have yet found, lock in an intermediate position. It is more like you have unlocked a "rocking" feature. At full tilt back, it seems very sturdy. No sense of being near a tipping point at all. While reclined, it would be nice if the headrest gave good support. Forget about it. I am 6'2" and it will not 1) adjust to a comfortable fit in either the crook of my neck or the back of my head or 2) stay fixed in the desired position. It will not come forward enough to be really functional, and once pulled forward, it will push back when you place pressue against it. This is not a deal-killer for me since I don't doze in my office chair, but may be for other who do or have a neck pain issue and are looking to the headrest for support of relief. The back is fixed due to the way the chair is constructed. It does not adust up or down, or forward or back. Again, check it out in the store. If it and the lumbar support work out for you, you're good to go. If not, think it over before buying. The things that really count for my body fit to the chair just happen to work out for the most part. That is why I can say I am pretty satisfied for what I got for the money. So, what am I really concerned about? They have tried to give the chair a sense of luxury or "richness" by covering the armrests with faux leatherette. My chair is 7 months old. It is not used all day every day. I work out of the office a lot. I am right-handed and the right arm rest is beginning to develop cracks and tears in the fabric. I was initailly concerned because they were a little on the narrow side and I was concerned about my forearms "rolling" off of them in use. That seem not to be a problem, but I still wish they were 25% wider. The "leather" coming apart is a big issue though. It is not the seams coming apart, it is the very fabric used for the upholstery. The left arm is holding up quite well since nobody her is a southpaw. We do not game or chat or stream videos or do other things which cause us to place undue stress on that particular armrest. It is just a poor choice of either materials or the grade thereof. It is warranted for a year and, being a big guy, I bought an extension of the warranty at the register. Not my first office chair made in China, thank you very much. The concern is how many armrests or chairs can I go through and/or when will they stop producing the chair altogether? The design of the chair would allow for a retro fit of a better armrest if they went in that direction. That about sizes it up. Yes I would recommend it to a friend as I have done here, but with the above caveats. I don't expect anything to be perfect amymore so I am not being that picky, but it seems it would have been easy to have done it better. Years ago, I slipped into the driver's seat of a convertible Ferarri. Somewhat closer to perfection I would propose. At 6'2", the top of the windsheild frame was dead in the middle of my eyeline. Nothing is perfect. Tom Selleck is much taller than I am. Before, I never noticed that his head was significantly above the frame of the windshield. I just thought they used a convertible because it was nice and sunny. So it goes.

I use it for my computer workstation for SHORT periods (around 1 to 2 hours MAX) at a stretch because I haven't purchased a good seat cushion - YET. In the instructions, the design limit is stated as 250 pounds, but the SEAT CUSHION itself says 225 pounds. The closer you are to this weight limit, the more certain it is that you'll have to purchase a high-quality, memory foam seat cushion - which adds SIGNIFICANTLY to the cost. Hence, the 3 stars.

I've had the chair for about 2 weeks, and the jury is out on the LUMBAR SUPPORT. Yes, its very adjustable, but it won't stay in position. Gravity and motion tend to make it slide downward. I'm still working on a "fix".

It's winter and my home office is air conditioned, so it's too soon to tell how effective the MESH BACK is, but so far there's not even a hint of a sweaty back.

The ARM RESTS are very comfortable, but I would bring a tape measure to check if the adjustment range works for YOU and your DESK (they worked for me in my set-up, but they do NOT go very low).

AFTER I add the LifeForm seat cushion, and assuming I can fix the lumbar support, I'll be satisfied. There's no way that the tilt mechanism can compete with an Aeron (different geometry i.e. pivot point), but even after I add the seat cushion, I'm at 50% of a USED Aeron - and that will have to do for now.

Comments about Staples Mesh Managers Chair with Headrest, Black and Chrome:

I'm portly and spend many hours each day seated in this chair while working at my computer. I got this specifically to improve support for my back after having briefly been able to use a Miller chair. Of course, Miller's are very expensive so I tried this one. While not as supportive as the Miller, it does very well and the price on sale was remarkable. I've had it a month now and am very satisfied.

Comments about Staples Mesh Managers Chair with Headrest, Black and Chrome:

Bought this chair after seeing a co-worker with one. I sat in it every chance I got (we alternate days in the office) and absolutely loved it. I'm a municipal elected official, so I waited until I could be sure we had funds in the budget and bought my own.

Once it arrived, I removed everything from the box - it was packed well and very organized. Easy step-by-step instructions included made it simple to put together. It didn't take long, and I was sitting comfortably in the chair within 30 minutes.

Easy to adjust, very nice looking without being overly ornate or expensive looking (a consideration when you are dealing with taxpayer dollars and want to be responsible).

    Highly recommended!

You should have no problem fitting this chair under the desk as the seat height is adjustable and the arms rests can be adjusted for height and/or width. The head rest is also height adjustable and articulates if it is not removable.

Most retailers categorize chairs by the hours of use/day standard. This makes the selection of the appropriate chair much simpler. I work long hours and this chair looks like it might work, but I can't find any reference to it's hours of use rating. I need a chair that will stand up to 8-9+ hours of use per day. Will this work?

The lowest height of the Staples Mesh Managers Chair with Headrest is 44 3/8". It would be low enough for a keyboard tray height yet high enough for use with the top of a desk generally. For more information on the chair and the height of the armrests please contact the manufacturer at 1-(800) 425-0049.

This chair does not have a manual with full specifications, however there exists some dimensions of the chair. The seat dimensions are as follows 18-3/4" - 22-1/4"H x 20-1/2"W x 19-3/4"D. Where as the overall dimensions are as follows 44-3/8" - 47-7/8"H x 28"W x 25-1/2"D. The seat to floor can adjust anywhere from 18-3/4" - 22-1/4"H. It is hard to say whether this chair would be low enough for a keyboard or high enough for the top of a desk without the dimensions of the specific desk you are wishing to use. The chair arms are adjustable, and the back of the chair has a width of 20" and the height of 28-1/2".

The lever for the height adjustment cylinder also controls this function. While leaning forward a little to take pressure off the back, just pull the lever out(away from chair). This will free the chair from the upright only position.
