They are a great size for out R.V. I am short and wish that they would adjust just a little bit lower. :)

We use this chair in our home office. We bought this chair because it looked nice, seemed sturdy, and was in the price range we were looking for. But once we got it home and started using it regularly, we found that the seat cushion is definitely not ample enough to cover the bolts in the seat. After only TWO days, the bolts began to be visible (as two defined lumps) through the seat cushion. It is now where every time we sit down, we feel both bolts, and it's not even two months yet! VERY UNCOMFORTABLE!
Also, the chair back is too inflexible. It won't lean back enough to get a good enough stretch.
So overall, good looking chair, rolls nice enough, but poor seat cushioning, uncomfortable, and doesn't adjust enough to allow leaning back.
To raise the seat: lean slightly forward while seated to relieve the pressure on the tilt mechanism. Reach under the right side of the chair and locate the handle and raise yourself up slightly to allow the chair to reach your desired height. Once you let go of the handle your seat will stay at the desired height.
To lower the seat: remain seated and lift the handle upwards until the chair lowers to your desired height. Once you let go of the handle your seat will stay at the desired height.

Q:
How far does the chair back move backwards or recline. Is is a number of inches or a foot or more. This is important as in a guard shack and do not want the guards to recline too far and fall asleep

They probably put the tilt lock on so you could safely get it home. This mechanism is on the underside of the chair in the front and adjusting that will fix the problem.

In order to raise the seat, shift your weight to your feet while sitting, then proceed to lift the lever on the right side until it is at the desired height.

Gentlemen/women:
This chair is very comfortable, wish I had bought it years ago. Just one question: How to clean, if, say, something is spilled on it. A damp cloth? Is dish detergent going to attack the material. How about some cleaning product, like "409"?
Lightly rubbing the material with a damp cloth and letting it air dry is generally a safe way to clean any material, but if that isn't enough, try a combination of vinegar and water on a test spot first and then use it to clean the spill if the test spot looks good.

While we do not recommend a particular cleaning product, you can use a damp cloth to wipe down your chair. If you would like to use a cleaning product, we suggest that you test the product on the bottom side of the seat cushion first to make sure the product doesn't alter the material, before applying the product on the entire chair. Please note that any type of discoloration or alteration made to the chair from a cleaner will automatically void the warranty.

Q:
I purchased this chair and the •Pneumatic seat height adjustment part has failed and it won't go up anymore. Can I buy that part separate anywhere and is there a more sturdy version of it.

You don't mention how long you have the chair, but it has a warranty and you had the opportunity to buy an extended 3 year warranty. Contact your local Staples and see if they can help you even though it might be out of warranty. I always find the staff at my local Staples extremely helpful.

The tag on the bottom of the chair says "not recommended for users weighing more than 225lb". I think anyone larger than that might feel uncomfortable in this chair anyway as it is pretty small (about 19" inside the arms).
