I know there are plenty of reviews on these, but I wanted to add my two cents mainly because of how we are using the shelves. I bought six of these to be used in my son's play room and bed room to store and display his toys. [...] assembly was quick and easy too. I was able to put all six together by myself while my son enjoyed his nap time! I selected these shelves in part because they are designed to hold up to fifty pounds. So, just in case my son decides to climb up on them when I'm not looking they won't collapse! So far they are holding up great to his rough and tumble ways! (No, we do not encourage climbing!)So for anyone who is thinking of using these shelves in a not-so-office-like way, I give them a solid two thumbs up! Thanks Staples!

Surprisingly sturdy

I purchased these shelves for a utility room; and they work perfectly for holding tools and supplies. The construction details are a little sloppy however. i.e. splinters on the front of one of the shelves, and the veneer is slightly curled up on the end of another. It still looks relatively good however, and as I purchased it for half price, is an excellent value.

This bookshelf was very easy to put together, and it looks like it was a lot more expensive than it really was ~ I'm completely happy with it.

This product was bought for my boyfriend who runs a business from his home and needed another shelf for organizing some of the clutter.This shelf worked out great! Looks great holds the amount of items needed well.And overall was a bargain for the entire deal,great price great looks and pretty solid.I give it AAA+++.I also have the a matching one for my movies in my home.

I actually use it to store records and CDs at home. [$] I purchased 2 initially and I was impressed how easy it was to assemble and the overall construction (supporting the weight of vinyl). I had to go back for a third! The only flaw I found was the hight is uneven, meaning I could only use the bottom shelf to store my records 100% vertical (another inch would make this perfect). But for the price who cares $30 for 3 bookcases!

I believe the manual says you can store 35 lbs on the bottom shelf and 20 lbs on the top and the middle shelf. I have pretty close to this on my shelves and it's holding pretty well after a month.
