Cheaply made plastic. Some plastics are tough; this one isn't. You can tell it's not going to last with regular office use. Staplers should be very rugged as people end to pound the lever to put the staple through the paper(s). I wish we could go back to the "old days" when they made staples strong and sturdy. I do like the "clinched staple" feature and the easy push button to open the staple draw, but it's too cheaply made. I have yet to find a good STRONG stapler yet. I'll just keep looking.

Q:
I am having the same problem one of the reviews mentioned. After reloading staples I cannot push the spring loaded staple tray all the way back into the machine, so it won't staple. Am I doing something wrong?

- A:
  Make sure the spring staple tray is not stuck open, you may have to push the hinge all the way back on the stapler before you are able to staple again. If this does not work, push the button on the bottom, this will help.

Is the stapler adjustable? The papers are inserted and stop too far back which makes it staple 3/4" down the page.

  No, this stapler is not adjustable.

  The stapler is not adjustable, when loaded correctly and closed correctly, the staples should be less than an inch from the top paper edge. Your stapler may not be closed all the way, there shouldn't be any space between the bottom black and middle silver piece.

  Easily place the paper under the stapler clamp near the front of the stapler & firmly push the handle in a downward motion to have the paper stapled.
