This product was sold for years by Staples under the Homz brand name. I bought one a few months ago in-store, and I noticed that, while it was the same Homz product, there was a Staples generic store brand label on it. I just learned, in-store and online, that the same item number is being used, but a new, substituted product is tremendously LESS sturdy (weaker, thinner plastic for box, very flimsy hinges, less sturdy snap closure...if you want to see a photo of the original product, look under the category...it's still posted there). The price has not been dropped at all and maybe be 50 cents higher, but the quality has dropped precipitously. The original product was the sturdiest, most useful file box out there and performed fabulously even when transported to public events. I'm dismayed that I didn't snap up the few that were left when I had the chance. I love Staples, but the decision to make a cheaper, obviously worse product to raise profits is truly awful. Customers deserve to have access to the original product. I would've been happy to pay a few dollars more if the price on the original product had to go up.
