I tend to put all my papers into binders so I can just grab what I need from the shelf. This way I don't have to go through file cabinets and drawers trying to find that chart or piece of paper I need. I reach for the binder and flip to what I need.

Central to this system is a good sturdy divider. I use alpha, numeric and clear tabbed, depending upon the need. These red leather monthly tabs are good looking and sturdy enough for the job. I reuse them from year to year. They are up to the task, and then some.
