I bought the Strata 0.5 pens looking for an alternative to the Uniball Vision Elite pens. The Uniball Vision Elite pens are just too darn expensive and not available on my companies preferred purchases list. The Strata pens are about 1/2 the price. I have found that the Strata 0.5 mm pens to be of the same smooth, bold ink as the Uniball Vision Elite. The pens are weighted exactly the same. The Strata pens improve on the Uniball design with a more comfortable rubber grip. The Strata pens come in five colors, balck, blue, red, green, and purple.

Granted, I'm a pen snob, with an architectural and design background—a good writing instrument is essential. This set is fine sometimes; other times they skip and scratch. The ink flow is inconsistent. Sometimes the ink flows smoothly right away, but more often it's like the ink has to warm up to work its way through the nib. Or it just doesn't flow at all, then next time it will work well. Overall, good colors but not reliable and a disappointment. There are other sets that work right every time.
