Good chair for the price. I would have given it 5 stars if the seat was more comfortable. The problem is with the memory foam. Although the foam is very comfortable when I first sit in the chair when the foam is still cold and firm, it quickly loses form when my body heat warms it up and softens it. It then becomes mushy. This results my buttocks area sinking deeplyinto the mushy seat and becoming uncomfortable.Another problem is the head rest. I can't ever quite understand the head support design on many of these chairs. Why are they tilted so far back. Leaning you head on the support feels like sleeping on bed without a pillow, resulting in your Adam's apple sticking out.Lumbar and back support is adequate, but not great. I prefer a more pronounced back support.I am not exactly a fan of memory foam when used in chairs. I think the seat could be improved with a firmer non-memory type foam.[...]

I gave the first one I bought to my son because he likes it so much and bought another one for myself. I later found cracks and tears on the arm rests of his chair and blamed him for being careless. However, I found the same just less visible on mine too. I think the "leather" is damaged whenever the arm rests touch any edge of the desk. This does not happen to chairs of similar size and style, which I have used for years. The finish also comes off easily.

While the chair itself is very good quality you need to see the hidden costs. The chair is designed to work only on hard wood floors. I own 4 of these chairs and in less than 4 weeks we have broken 5 casters on carpet ( the replacements although they don't match cost $30.00 for 5ea). The ( optional add-on plus you throw the original casters away)cost of casters that are designed to work on carpet is over $50.00 per set of 5 (Staples would not offer a discount and do not stock in their stores). The salesman knew we were working on carpet but did'nt pass on defective chair information. Love the chair but could have purchased a different chair at a different store that was designed to work on carpet for around the same price. To bad they didn't give you this information prior to purchase. I would recommend this chair for a hard wood surface but stay away from it if your office/home is carpeted.

The plusses first: this is a great looking chair, which is what attracted me to it in the store. High quality construction. VERY easy to assemble.Now... the REST of the story.I'm retired, and I needed a new chair for my home office, where I spend several hours a day primarily on the computer. I have a bad back, so chair comfort is extremely important to me. I'm also a big guy, at 6'2" and almost 200 pounds.I tried the chair in the store, and it seemed quite comfortable... for the few minutes I could actually spend testing it. Bought it, brought it home.Within about 20 minutes I was wiggling like a fish on a hook trying to get comfortable. Within an hour, I had to get up and walk around to stretch out my back. The angle of the back to the seat is too acute, and is not adjustable. The surfaces are HARD, with little to no give at all; it's like sitting on wooden planks.Unfortunately for me, the return policy states that one has to bring back the item and ALL THE PACKAGING in resaleable condition. I'd already trashed the box, so I'm stuck with this thing. It will now spend its life as a spare chair in my office, decorating a corner of the room, as I've had to buy a different chair to keep from being turned into a pretzel.

Love the styling of the Tillman chair, which we purchased after comparison shopping at several local office supply stores. It was extremely comfortable while sitting in it at the store for 5 minutes, and set-up at home was quite easy and fast. Unfortunately, the chair lacks sufficient seat padding and becomes really uncomfortable on your tush after sitting in it longer than 30 minutes... it feels like you're bottoming out the support substrate. My wife shared the same reaction (I weigh about 190 lbs, she's closer to 140). After trying to "make it work" by adding an additional chair pad for several days, we begrudingly returned it to the store yesterday...too bad, because we really liked the chair aside from the insufficient seat padding. I love this chair - will purchase another when it goes on sale again. The only issue is with the color - the Internet picture shows a deeper brown color - I was disappointed but not enough to return. I will purchase a second chair in black.
