Q: I just upgraded my Mac to Lion and the computer is not recognizing my printer (HP Laser Jet 5000). It is currently connected by 36 pin parallel to HP JetDirect then goes to CAT 5 through the router and from router to CAT 5 into the Mac. In doing some research I learned that Lion automatically detects any printers connected by USB so I was wondering if I were to buy this parallel to usb cable and connect it directly from the printer to the computer if I might find success in getting the printer operational? Or, do you have any suggestions? Asked on 4/3/2012 by dawn from westwood Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: Yes, the product in question would be good for you to buy. Answered on 4/5/2012 by Community Answer from None A: You may need to update the Drivers for your printer to the new operating system, please see HP.com Download drivers and software for your OS and printer. Q: Can the USB end be plugged into either a 3.0 or a 2.0 USB port or does it work in 2.0 only? Asked on 3/29/2012 by Pam from Maryland Know the answer? Answer this question 2 answers A: USB ports are generally very forgiving, and generally you can plug a 2.0 into a 1.1 and you only loose the 2.0 Speed. The same goes for the 3.0, which runs at 5GBps, it will work in a 2.0 at 480MBps. Answered on 3/30/2012 by Community Answer from None A: For a USB parallel adapter cable the USB is designed to fit most 2.0 or 3.0. If you have a 3.0 port this is backward compatibility to the 2.0 USB connections. So there shouldn't be an issue on the plugs connection capabilities. Answered on 3/30/2012 by Laura B from Staples
