I use the calculator for day to day accounting. Often times I can do the math in my head, but sometimes it's just faster to use the calculator if there are a list of expenses that needed to be added. I like that it's simple enough and yet has the capability to do more. The extra keys that you never really seem to use don't overwhelm you like a scientific calculator. It's perfect for what I need.

I like the fact that it is solar powered. What is very annoying is that the little rubber feet are uneven, so it is never completely flat on the surface, and it wobbles a little when you use it.
Design wise I think it's ugly that the Staples name is prominent...it's the first thing you see. If there was something else in the price range without the brand in red letters, I would have bought it.
I do not think that this calculator's contrast is adjustable; however, the SPL-250 product features state that it has an adjustable display,but product specifications state "adjustable tilt display."

Try this: Key in your tax rate percentage, press SET, press TAX+ Test the calculation by entering in an amount (i.e., 200) and then pressing TAX+.
