I purchased this file drawer to augment files I already had in my library and downstairs office. I did not have room in my library for an ugly full size filing cabinet and there were only two file drawers in my existing desk/credenza. But papers were piling up fast, so I bought one of these to help with the overflow, thinking that I could later bring it downstairs and either merge it with my existing files or use it for archival files. The one really nice feature is that it is easy to stack these units with the provided plastic "ears". I've already added a second drawer on top of the first and it is still presentable.
The negatives I find is that the unit is relatively expensive and if you place anything (like a couple of books) on top, the drawer will bind and not slide out easily. Also, the top of each unit has plastic ribs on top, so you do not have a smooth surface.

But the portability is great, and it was a great help in staying organized.

Why stick labels on this product!

I am transferring all of our closed files (attorneys office) to these easy drawer files, but the only thing that gets me is the HUGE label they put on the front of the drawer. Yesterday, I had to spend 30 minutes and a lot of WD 40 to get the label off the front. I had to use a rubber scraper, too. The front of the drawer is now really dull and not shiny like the other 30 drawers we have lined up. Looks pretty bad, so I may switch using this product because of this.

Black outside of unit is sturdy and attaches really well to more units. I added a metal strap on the back side to keep them from tipping over when drawers are pulled out. Gray drawer is a little flimsy and could be better. I picked up some of these in store and they were fine. I ordered the others and they arrived damaged. The reason is the outside cardboard box is so thin it doesn't protect the unit inside. Also when you fill up these drawers with files about 75% full, the drawers get very heavy. I recommend not filling them all the way up.

We use these file drawers to store our year end paperwork for our required seven year period in a storage area. WE use them because they stack very well. They are very sturdy and have an interlocking feature. We are able to stack them seven high without crushing the bottom unit or having them tip over. It makes for a a clean, easy to organize space for our record storage.

I use them for records that I need to keep a long time. The records that get shredded get the flimsy paper boxes. Good and sturdy. I like that they stack and stay in place. The size makes them a bit heavy.
