Q: Can this run a cad program such as Autocad LT or others and what would be the limitations? Asked on 3/15/2013 by chiltoncabs from Maine Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: For Autocad LT (or any other software), you have to look at the program requirements. Autocad LT requires: • Windows 7 • A powerful enough cpu • 2 GB RAM • 4 GB free disk space • 1,024x768 VGA display None of the Autocad releases indicate that they will work on Windows 8. They probably would run, but the manufacturer has not certified that. The Surface has 4gb of memory, sufficient storage space, sufficient cpu and sufficient display to run Autocad LT. The video is shared memory. I believe that despite the Surface meeting the program specs, the program will lug. I think the shared video vice dedicated graphics will be the weak spot. Q: Let's say I wanted to install Office Pro 2010 on the tablet? Could you copy the files from the DVD to a USB drive and install from the USB? Thoughts? How about storage? I'm afraid if I purchased the tablet, if you installed several large programs like Office, you would be out of space for anything else. Has anyone encountered storage issues? Asked on 3/10/2013 by Bob from Palm Bay, FL Know the answer? Answer this question 1 answer A: You can certainly transfer the install files for Office 2010 to a flash drive and install from that folder. Engadget reports that the Surface Pro 128GB model ships with 83GB free. That's quite a bit of free space. The same article points out that the Surface Pro is expandable via the MicroSDXC slot. You also get 7GB of storage online with Microsoft SkyDrive. Answered on 3/11/2013 by Community Answer from None

Q: Can I load other software on this device, such as itunes and games like Diablo 3? When I'm traveling I like to listen to my music and play my games. Can I hook up a portable DVD player to it? My main business computer is a macbook pro and I use an iPhone to do my meeting calls on, is this compatible with these? Asked on 2/9/2013 by James from Cleburne, Tx. Know the answer? Answer this question 5 answers A: Yes (to all of your questions). The Surface Pro runs a full copy of Windows 8 Pro, and you can do with it anything that you'd do with a fuller-sized computer. Answered on 2/12/2013 by eeewing from Grove City, OH A: You can use any software that is compatible with Windows 7, so Diablo 3 would work. I'm just not sure if there will be any lag. An external DVD player should work via USB. I'm not sure what you mean by 'compatible' but if you're wondering if your apps will sync, it depends upon the apps you have. If you are talking about your calender and email, as long as you use a calender/email in google, yahoo, hotmail, etc., then you can log onto your accounts in the Surface Pro to sync them with your apple devices. Answered on 2/11/2013 by bittenapples from Kent, WA A: Yes - Surface Pro has a full version of Windows 8 installed on it - so in Desktop mode, it is 100% compatible with a Windows 8 workstation. Answered on 2/11/2013 by slemay from Williamsville, NY A: This is a fully functional laptop that could, in theory, replace your MacBook Pro. It has a USB port so that you can sync your phone to iTunes as well. As for Diablo 3, I am not sure what the minimum requirements are but I was told the surface pro ran BulletStorm on medium settings flawlessly. Answered on 2/11/2013 by Mrcheese123 from Dallas, TX A: yes. it is a notebook pc like all others so you can install any windows 7 or windows 8 software. you can attaché any usb device as well as long as the drivers are available. it would be compatible with apple software just as any other windows computer would be Answered on 2/11/2013 by biconix from Boca Raton, FL
