These plates are really great, which must be why the price jumped over $10 since the last time I ordered them. Can't afford to buy them at this price, shame since we really liked them...

Totally pleased. I was trying to do the right thing for the environment, without sacrificing quality. I didnt even realize it when i ordered it, but these plates are made from sugarcane waste materials, and are beautiful, plus 100% compostable. I have some in my compost now, we'll see how that works out. but the quality and performance was great

Q:
Sorry, if my question reads as a duplication of others previously answered, but I need to know about the surface finish of the plate.
Is it dry,similar to those of pressed molded paper,(which look like dyed white cardboard?)
Or is it slick/smooth, much like the 100% plastic-ware sold by another brand,only,?

  Sustainable Earth products made by Staples are made of compressed paper. The plate service is a flat, white and durable paper surface. It contains no Styrofoam and is not shiny.

  They are a paper plate of sorts. They are made out of sugarcane so they will have a slightly different feel to them.
