As another reviewer wrote, the new cartridges do not work but they can be fixed. The problem is the plastic is not thick enough where the staples exit so the stapler can not advance the staples.

To fix, I put 4 thicknesses of scotch tape under the cartridge (you can cover the notched gap in the plastic) and it works perfectly.

After frustratingly trying to figure out why my stapler wouldn't work, I hope this helps you.

I bought our electric stapler about 7 years ago and had no problem for the first few years. So I purchased more of the same model for use thruout the office. But lately as we've had to replace old cartridges with new, we've had 2 of them cease working with the new cartridge. I found an old cartridge that had only 100 or so staples left (this cartridge was from about 5 years ago) and put it in one of the 'non-working' staplers and found out that it worked fine. So the complaints about the electronic staplers not being reliable is probably wrong - I believe it's the cheaper cartridges that they're making today that aren't as good as from years ago.

I use it in my Swingline 690e electric stapler in my professional practice. It staples just about anything you can fit into it. The only negative comment I would have is that standard staple pullers are too large for staples you want to remove.
