After a year of daily use, this product continues to perform fantastic. While the generic Staples brand staplers begin to get tinny and rattle, my PowerEase continues to be stable and powerful every squeeze of the handle. The high-performance power and overall stability during even the thickest staple is very impressive. The response of the stapler during each staple event is intoxicating. I recommend the PowerEase to everyone!

Jams. Jams constantly. If yours does not jam, it probably will. Buy an old-school, all-steel standard Swingline 747 desktop stapler. Not this. It has flimsy plastic parts inside and out. If you drop it, shiny plastic trim pieces fly off. You can not open it up at the hinge to tack papers to bulletin boards. And you can not switch to temporary stapling -- the anvil is fixed in place and only clinches. After you drop it, the fancy plastic trim breaks off. The main hinge pin is held in place with a weak clip. So then the pin falls out and you have a useless stapler. Oh yes, it jams.

I'm surprised to see the bad reviews, I find myself wondering if it is user error? I went through 4 styles of staplers and found this one as I was getting frustrated w/ other NON Swingline models. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this one I've had it for almost a year and use it constantly throughout the day stapling as little as two sheets to as many as 20+ and it NEVER jams on me.

I don't use this for business but have been using it consistently for the past 9 months or so. I really like it and haven't had the jamming problems that others have apparently had. This doesn't mean it doesn't have jamming problems but in my experience I think I've only had it jam once. Of course I might just be lucky because judging by the number of negative reviews it does seem to be a widespread problem.
Despite that my experience has been extremely positive. It powers through pretty good size stacks of paper. I regularly use it for 25 sheets of 24lbs paper. I think the main limit is the size of the staple because at beyond that point there really isn't enough staple to hold it together.
Bottom line is my experience has been extremely positive and I would recommend it based on that. However all the negative reviews do speak quite loudly as well. If you do purchase make sure you try it out enough so if it breaks you can return it.

The stapler works very well with Stanley/Bostitch standard staples, but terribly with the Swingline staples that the maker wants you to use. The Swingline staples jam constantly. Once in a while, the Stanley/Bostitch will miss a shot, but they've never jammed on me. Quite ironic, actually.
Plus it works far better if you leave it on your desk. Picking it up to staple papers will often result in missed shots.

A colleague of mine had convinced me to switch from my Staples Brand Stapler to this based on a contest on which stapled more. This one won out and indeed seemed like a quality piece. However after 2 business days of use the thing started jamming up and I had to pull out my pliers to take out the staples several times throughout the day. Only one word describes this product now: FAIL. I miss my old Staples brand stapler.
