I fought to get this thing loaded. I am blonde, but come on. Finally I went on line to try and find out how to load it with staples. Now don't I feel stupid. There is invisible tape on the front silver part of the stapler (why they did not use colored tape is beyond me). Once it is removed, it is easy to press the colored button in the back to load the staples. At least on line I found out I was not the only person having problems seeing the INVISIBLE tape. Hmmm where are those reading glasses?!?

Horrible design!

I loved the design concept. The automatic, spring-powered staplers we started using were constantly breaking. But after working with this for two months, I can tell you to AVOID THIS UNIT. Issues I've experienced include...
a) Refuses to use all the loaded staples. Stops working with over 1" of staples still inserted. You must then reload.
b) Loading mechanism opens on its own! Pops out for no real reason.
c) Harsh stapling feel. It does go through many sheets, but the other problems make this unit tedious to work with.
d) Falls over constantly. The curved design may not have been built to sit upright. Rather unstable.

Not operater friendly. Loaded staples after 30 minutes of trying to fiqure out how. Now the stapler is jammed and unable to repair.

Do not waste your money on this stapler. It worked great for a week and then broke. The spring mechanism doesn't open to fill the staples anymore. You have to manually force it. Then EVERY time you wanted to staple something, you had to tap it on the desk first. Now it won't staple at all. I have had this stapler less than a year. Makes a great paperweight.

This is the worst thing I've ever bought. It says it's a standard stapler, but would not take the staples I tried to insert into it. Instead, it jammed up. When I was finally able to remove the jammed staples, the loading tray kept popping out and still would not work. I called Staples and they were nice enough to send me a different stapler, as I was so unsatisfied with this one.

The spring popped out and I cant seem to figure out how to open it like you would a normal stapler to put it back in. I do not mean staples, I have that figured out. I need to open it to put the bottom spring back in.

No instructions on box or insert. How do you load staples into the stapler? There is a blue button-like cap at the end of the stapler but does not pull out, push in, or detach with any force I have applied without breaking. Please help. Thank you.

  Called number to find out that a clear piece of tape is across the front of the staple drawer that needs to be removed so drawer will slide open when the button on the back is pushed.

  Make sure you are using staples such as item #108985. If the leg of the staple is longer the 1/4", this may cause the staples to not close all the way.

  Pretty much, yes. Smart Touch / One Touch / EZ Touch are used interchangeably for those type that use a high-powered spring to fire the staple. Not to be confused with No Touch or Automatic -- most of those have a sensor that fires the staple.
  
  In our extensive experience over several years of using the spring-powered staplers, most need to be used carefully. That spring causes many of them to break over time. A crack or actual breakage of the plastic occurs where the staple is positioned for firing within the head. If you are the type that likes to bang down on top of your stapler with a lot of force -- you might reconsider buying these. These are meant, we think, for people who want to avoid the heavy-muscle routine.
  
  Those of us who pick up the stapler in one hand instead of banging it find that spring-loaded staplers last much longer. Fortunately, Staples has been very understanding about replacing several, several broken ones over the years.
  
  They are expen$ive!
