I gave this shredder to my Mother because she had a TON of old documents which needed to be destroyed so needed good capacity and speed. The shredder works great and was easy enough for a 69 year old Grandmother to operate.

Good idea, but Bad machine

I usually don't do reviews, however there were no reviews when I was looking at this machine, and feel the need to describe for the next shopper. This was a disappoint from Swingline! Thanks to STAPLES and their easy to return policy I was able to upgrade this machine and save money.

Pros: Sorry not many. BUT May work out fine if you shred less than 10 pages (plain, 8 1/2 x 11, non-folded) per week.

Cons: Unless the paper is stacked straight, letter size, plain (no NCR or glossy), no folds or creases; it will not cycle thru the 100 pages it claims. During the auto cycle; when it is not able to pickup the next sheet the machine shuts down. Therefore the machine is even slower in auto mode as it is in manual feed. With or without the bag insert, this is the messiest machine i've seen. As you pull the drawer out so much paper knocked out of the bin into the base will not allowing the drawer seat back in it's original position. Necessary to vacuum or sweep paper out of the base to allow the machine to restart.
Looks like the pickup rollers quickly coat with paper dust and will not continue to pick up paper automatically. This started happening with the first 100 papers i ran and got worse the second 100.
YES it would be great to have an affordable machine that you stack paper in and walk away, but this is NOT it.

        I love being able to stack papers and walk away. I tried non-critical documents first to test if it shreds well, and it does! It includes one paper insert to line the bin which can then be folded and sealed to dispose of. I would like to purchase replacement bags for it by Swingline but also would like to see them suppy 5-10 in the shredder box.

            For this great Swingline Stack-and-Shred shredder, the paper size that stacks into the hold bin area is only the standard letter sized paper. However on the top, there is also available the individual sheet feeder, where you can manually feed in all your legal sized papers.

            Well, I ordered it, and it cannot shred check carbons, even when I put some in the middle of 8.5 x 11 papers. It jammed almost every time. It also had problems with stapled documents. It would pull and shred the pages from the staple, but when it got to the page that had the staple(s) in it, it couldn't handle it if there was more than one staple in it. Very disappointing for the price. And because I ordered it, went on vacation, and didn't try it until I returned, Staples is saying I cannot return it since it has been more than 14 days!
