I usually don't do reviews, however there were no reviews when I was looking at this machine, and feel the need to describe for the next shopper. This was a disappoint from Swingline! Thanks to STAPLES and their easy to return policy I was able to upgrade this machine and save money.

Pros: Sorry not many. BUT May work out fine if you shred less than 10 pages (plain, 8 1/2 x 11, non-folded) per week.

Cons: Unless the paper is stacked straight, letter size, plain (no NCR or glossy), no folds or creases; it will not cycle thru the 100 pages it claims. During the auto cycle; when it is not able to pickup the next sheet the machine shuts down. Therefore the machine is even slower in auto mode as it is in manual feed. With or without the bag insert, this is the messiest machine i've seen. As you pull the drawer out so much paper knocked out of the bin into the base will not allowing the drawer seat back in it's original position. Necessary to vacuum or sweep paper out of the base to allow the machine to restart.
Looks like the pickup rollers quickly coat with paper dust and will not continue to pick up paper automatically. This started happening with the first 100 papers i ran and got worse the second 100.
YES it would be great to have an affordable machine that you stack paper in and walk away, but this is NOT it.

dont try to use the stack option if you have any bends in the paper, it wont feed automatically

I love being able to stack a pile of papers in the top and walk away.

The only complaint is the bin. It is a bit too small and also is long and doesn't fill the front unless you pull the shreds forward yourself. It came with a special trash bag but we haven't checked into refills.

Other reviews talk about the paper not being pulled down. I fixed this by fanning the pages before stacking them. I'm currently shredding pages that have curled in half lengthwise and I've noticed that it's having problems catching the paper in the rollers. I wouldn't count that as a shredder error though. I used canned air to blow out paper dust after about the 20th fill.

Thick paper doesn't go through when stacked because the blades are in the middle of the page and the paper is too thick to be sucked down.

This machine is excellent, but not if you go by the instruction manual. As many reviewers say, it tends to stop feeding when the rollers get dusty. The manual says clean it when it stops. This is a pain.
I have found the machine works well if you keep a dry cloth by it. Run a stack of paper slightly less than the max capacity marked on the loading bin. This will shred completely and not overfill the bin. When complete, open the paper tray and quickly wipe off the tray and wheels, which takes 3 or 4 seconds.(There are large holes so the dust, etc, falls into the bin.) Then empty the bin, reinsert it, reload and shut the paper tray, which retarts shredding.
I have the machine close to the edge of a desk, so everytime I pull the bin out, I brush any left behind shreds into the bin before emptying it. Every shredder I have used has left behind shreds. This machine is small enough to go on a desk or table, which makes brushing it out that much easier.
Once I started this routine I have done thousands of sheets without a glitch.

works great when the auto feeder actually feeds the paper into the shredder. had to keep opening and wet the drive wheels or shuffle the papers. sometimes it would shred with no problems. when it works it is great. I was shredding thousands of documents and it never overheated. good for household or light business use.

After two (2) weeks of use this shredder WILL NOT shut off automatically! I have to turn it on and turn it off manually EVERYTIME!! I am extremely disappointed in this product's durability.
