The Targus Retractable 4-Port Hub allows users to connect up to 4 additional USB peripherals to a laptop or desktop easily and efficiently no matter where they are located. The 10” retractable USB cable makes it easier to connect USB devices to a computer whether the USB connecter is long or short. All USB ports are specially positioned at a 30 degree angle so items can easily plug into the hub while it sits on your desktop. I love this USB port. I own an IMAC and the ports are on the back of the computer. This product allows me to plug in USB cords into my computer for fast use and productivity. For example, I often have to unplug my printer to use with my laptop and I can easily see which cord is which with this USB Hub. I also am able to keep my IPOD cord plugged in without having to disconnect. This USB hub allows me to sync my IPODS, too. I liked it so much that I even purchased an additional one for my son!

          I use Windows 7, with a USB 2 port. Right after I started to use this with some external hard drives. I soon started to have shut down error (blue screen, saying driver errors), then start up blue screen errors. I isolated to this device removed it from use and problems dissappeared. I now use a mutiport USB 2.0 from another vendor, This was a waste of time and money.

                Using a hub no, you would need a switch, USB works only with 1 master host and the rest of the devices are slaves, Two pc connected on a hub would try to compete for master.
