I have had several brands of Laptop cooling fan pads, from many reputable brands, but the Targus chill mat is the only one so far that has lasted more then 30 days with BOTH internal fans operating. I often have to work on my laptop for several hours at a time and, with all the other laptop cooling fan products, at least one of the fans stopped working completely in a short period of time. While they were within their one year warranty, it would cost more to return them to the manufacturer then to buy a new one.
I am so PLEASED to have a product that I can depend on to work and, this Targus chill mat, is reasonably priced and reliable.

Don't waste your money. The fans are powered by your USB port. I can not feel any air flow from the device, but I can hear both fans. Very poorly designed. I suggest that your do not buy a cooling device for a laptop that is powered by as USB port. I am a registered professional electrical and mechanical engineer with 45 years experience in computer design.

Don't waste your money on this. It was just weeks of sitting on my desk under the laptop - not even being moved before it started getting very loud and it doesn't move enough air to keep the laptop cool, especially if working with video graphics (or gaming). I will be buying something else because this simply does not do the job. Stay away, far, far, away.

Great product. Similar products in this category are big and bulky. This unit is very easy to carry and store. Being able to adjst the height allows anyone to use it in a variety of places (in your lap, on a table, on the floor). I would recommend this chill mat to everybody.

I purchased the Targus Chill Mat for a friend who has my older Dell laptop and it is one hot laptop - I don't mean hot in a good way. It needs all the help it can get to keep from frying. I like the design of the Chill Mat, the quiet 2 speed fans, the angle adjustment and that it is simple to use. Just plug it in to a usb port and your good to go. In fact I like it so much that I think I'll buy one for myself even though my HP is cool. And I do mean cool in the best sense of the word!

  Yes. There is a "foot" on each side at the back of the unit that folds out to raise the back by about an inch. I haven't used the feet so can't say how effective they are - I do note that they don't appear to lock in place and that might be a bit of a concern.
