Mediocre Portable DVD Drive

By Matthew the Consultant

from Chicago, Illinois

About Me Frequent User

Verified Buyer

Pros

  • Cheap
  • Easy To Install
  • Highly Compatible

Cons

  • Design
  • Flimsy
  • Loud
  • Short Cable

Best Uses

  • Installing software

Comments about Targus DVD-ROM External USB 2.0 Drive:

Functional but mediocre portable DVD drive. Top-loading form factor is annoying and archaic -- I'd much prefer a tray or slot-loading drive. USB cable is really short (6"), so you don't want to keep it plugged in to your laptop longer than you have to.

Comments about Targus DVD-ROM External USB 2.0 Drive:

This is a generally good piece of equipment. BUT, there was one CD I had to put in three times before it would read it. And one I tried over a half dozen times and it still won't read it. Both these CDs are commercial items (not consumer burns or mixes).
