The Targus Lap Chill Mat Jr. Jr. is a more compact version of the original Lap Chill Mat. Constructed of the same materials, it provides a comfortable and ergonomic work surface to keep you and your laptop cool. The Chill Mat rests on your lap and disperses heat, using a fan to provide ventilation which can be obstructed if the laptop is used on a pillow or comforter. Simply plug the USB connector into the laptop to activate cooling. The ergonomic tilt makes typing easy while the soft outer material provides cushioned comfort on your lap. The open design allows fans to run quietly and stimulates constant airflow. Four rubber stops on the face of the Chill Mat prevents the laptop from slipping. The Targus Lap Chill Mat Jr. makes using your laptop an enjoyable experience.

Great but small. Get the larger size.

I've used the regular-size Lap Chill Mat before and LOVED it. The fans are USB-powered and not too loud. The neoprene wrapping keeps the hot laptop off your legs and is comfortable.

I've used the regular-size Lap Chill Mat before and LOVED it. The fans are USB-powered and not too loud. The neoprene wrapping keeps the hot laptop off your legs and is comfortable.

BUT... this "Jr" desk felt like it wasn't wide enough to feel stable across my lap. It's "Jr" because it's EXACTLY 15.6" wide to fit 15.6" laptops. That was weird for me since I like the desk to be a bit bigger than the laptop. My fault, not the product's.

If you have a small lap to match your netbook or small laptop then definitely get this "Jr" lapdesk. Otherwise get the larger-sized one to accommodate your larger lap or if you need extra space to set things next to the laptop. Just a matter of preference for me.

After 2 months, the fan started rattling, but I still use it every day, even without the fan plugged in, because it keeps my lap cooler, and it prevents my laptop from slipping off my lap. I am glad I have it, because it provides a more secure base, and the small space it puts between my lap and the laptop, even without plugging in the fan, keeps it cooler and more comfortable.

I was surprised and disappointed that the fan rattled after just a short time, but I would buy it even without the fan, because it makes using the laptop so much more comfortable. Maybe the higher-end models' fans last longer?
