This is a terrible product from possibly the worst company in computers today. I bought FIRST Targus Universal charger 2 years ago because our puppy got the the manufacturers. It lasted roughly 4 months.

Since then we have gone through THREE others. One simply stopped working and two others began sparking and smoking. I returned the first one that sparked to Targus directly and they shipped me a new one. That one lasted about 6 months and now it's doing the same thing.

I would rather spend twice what the manufacturer is asking for a good quality one than ever have to deal with this company or it's products ever again.

I recommed this as a backup to a an Genuine Manufacturer's part. Has worked great for me for over a year. Purchasing another one for a friend.If you're batttery is fully charged (via your manufacturer's ac adapter), take out your battery and use this adapter with your laptop as a direct source of power bypassing your battery (as this is unplugged anyways). This will not only prolong the life of your battery but your ac adapter(s) and notebook aswell. I expect this to last a very long time.and yes, the pretty blue light is nice to look at.My only complaint would be the lack of the ability to charge the battery. But I guess that's why I'm buying a Universal AC Adapter and not shelling out $140 or so for the ACTUAL replacement (backup) from my Manufacturer.[...]

We purchased TWO of these to replace the cords on laptops that had either worn out or been lost. BOTH of these did not work. Would plug it in and the light would flash as you plugged it in and then it would die. So, didn't work at all. I can believe that if one were bad, it is just that one. However, when you buy TWO and they both are garbage, something is wrong.

DO NOT BUY!!!!! You'll have to replace it every three months and the charger doesnt even charge it. It is good 4 nothing!!!!

I bought it six months ago. The Tip #2 fit my laptop. After two months, it started failing. I would plug in the cord to the laptop and wall plug and periodically the power would go out of the cord (am I saying that right?). Then...the tips (well, the only Tip #2 in the package, would not hold in the laptop outlet. What is wrong here? Perhaps if there were two tips for each #. I don't know. What I do know is that I have to go and buy another cord and it will not be this one. [...].
