Got this on Black Friday for [$] Great cooling action exhausting heat from bottom of lap top. I was already using a small piece of flat wood to help the little computor fan vent air, it seemed to get restricted by just sitting on my lap with clothing blocking off the air circulation vents on bottom (Fan exhaust out of the side on my Sony laptop). The wood helped, but the end result is always the same, the mouse would start freezing/locking up after about 15 minutes of use due to overheating. Now with this dual action fan that plugs right into your USB port for power, I set this cool pad on the wood under the laptop, and the laptop has run for over 1 hour so far today with not a hint of Frozen Mouse syndrome! Great Buy... I got three of them, and will make GREAT gifts for my Daughters Stocking. (Now I got to figure how to make them fit!)

I bought this shortly after I got my job at the end of 2009, this product worked for a few months before it stopped. Every time I cut it on after that point it sounded like I was starting a lawnmower. I replaced it twice and had the exact same problems. I did find out that it will continue to work if you elevate it at around 45 degrees; other than that it won't.

The good things about it? It works til it does not want to anymore.

The bad? It stops working when it wishes.

Going to be returning this chill mat. Way too noisy. I can hear the fan 2 rooms away! My other Targus was great and unfortunately it died after several years of use. This one is not a good replacement.

                  My sons laptop gets over heated easily. We bought this product but he is concerned because it is smaller then the laptop itself. I believe when you "measure" a laptop it is diagonally on the screen for the size? If that is right then his is 17" and this says 15.4, does it work for it?

                    I am sure by now you have the answer, but my answer is YES. The cooling fans help most when in the area of the battery, it seems. So, as long as the wrist rest area and the battery area are getting cooled, it should not be a problem.
