Delivered yesterday. [...] I am usually put off by products requiring assembly but the instructions made this one look easy to assemble... & it was. I was able to assemble it this morning while participating in a conference call, answering email & burning CDs.After sitting here all afternoon & using my work laptop, I am now able to sit comfortably in my desk chair & use my 17-inch personal laptop. Since I have a desktop machine on my desk, previously I had to work w/ my laptop on my lap... uncomfortable and hot! I can tilt this desk for a natural hand position. I did have to adjust the height to the absolutly lowest position... down to the base piece. Otherwise, it would be too high for me.It feels a little flimsy but it's sturdy enough to hold the laptop quite well. NOTE: Keep the desk over the long leg... otherwise it can tip over.The castors work as they should... even on carpet.My biggest disappointment is the finish. When I read mahogany finish, I translated that into a real wood product. I should have realized that it would have cost quite a bit more.I am very pleased w/ this desk and will definitely recommend it to others.

I will be returning this item. It just is not sturdy enough. I bought it to use when I wanted to stand up while working on my laptop, but I worried about it tipping or the adjustable desk top sliding and dumping the computer.

If the knobs are not tightened by a super human, then the tilt will "tilt" on it's own. My laptop fell off the first day! Also, you can't rotate it so the long leg will fit under either side of the bed. This is a piece of junk!

From the floor (casters) to top of base; how tall is this area. I want to make sure it will fit under a recliner that sits about 4 inches from the floor. Also possible use at couch with about the same height floor to bottom of couch. This measurement will determine my purchase of this one or the other similar one offered at Staples. Thanks.

  Yes, it should hold it just fine, assuming you are putting them on at the same angle and utilizing the entire stand as a sort of desk.
  The main (large) panel of the stand is 20.5" wide and 17.25" tall, so it should fit an 18.5" laptop if it's a diagonal measurement. The side panel is 10" wide by 17.25" tall, so the mouse pad could not fit on it if it were left at a 90 degree angle to the base. However, if the two pieces are placed at the same degree, and used as a "sheet" the total length would be 30.5", and an 18.5" laptop plus a 12" mouse pad would be exactly 30.5".
  Due to laptop size measuring generally being diagonally though, you would actually have a little bit of wiggle room between the laptop and the mouse pad. They wouldn't have to be crushed edge-to-edge.

Can this unit be used in either direction? Is it reversable? In other words, can the desk be turned an tilted in the opposite direction?
